Quick select by long press hold and swipe, or a simple pop-up to choose.

Currently the Space name is on the left corner and the Space tab is on the right corner, which you have to use your eyes from one end to the other to change between spaces.

Or perhaps list all the spaces on the left corner, (or those that are starred) for quick switch.
